We are excited to share with you our first installment of Bloomz Sound Bites, a collection of interviews with educators sharing their experience with Bloomz. In the video below, you hear from Joseph Mattina, principal at PS 23 Carter G. Woodson in Brooklyn, NY.

Carter Woodson is a Title 1 school, with all their children below the poverty line. They historically struggled with parental engagement. Before implementing Bloomz at their school, they used a combination of other tools like School Messenger, Remind and ClassDojo.

When Mr. Mattina decided to change things, he was looking for a platform that was easy to use and easy for parents to interact with - similar to a social network. When he found Bloomz, he liked its interface, which he found similar to Facebook's. Once they started using Bloomz, they immediately took advantage of features like alert notifications, scheduling of messages and in general the ability his teachers had to plan their communications.

Bloomz has made a palpable difference at Carter Woodson, according to Mr. Mattina. "If you look at our parent involvement survey from 5 years ago as opposed to now, parents are now responding more favorably.". So much so, that Mr. Mattina is happy to recommend Bloomz for any school or district looking to increase parental engagement in their community.
