Behavior recognition has a dirty secret: the artwork does most of the work. A point is just a number — what makes a first-grader sit a little straighter is watching their monster hatch. And what makes an eighth-grader roll their eyes is the same monster.
That’s the problem behind the biggest expansion of Bloomz behavior tools we’ve ever shipped: 15 new behavior themes, 360 new milestone characters, designed band by band from PreK through 12th grade. You can browse the whole catalog — artwork, progressions, and posters — on the new Behavior Themes page.
Recognition art that grows up with the student
Classroom points tools have always been great for elementary and awkward after it. Cute characters carry K-5, then middle and high schoolers get either the same babyish art or nothing at all — which is roughly when PBIS programs start losing steam. So we designed by age band instead of one-size-fits-all:
- Early childhood (PreK–2): Bloomlingz (a mystery egg that hatches and blooms) and Choo Crew (a class train that grows car by car).
- Elementary (K–8): Mystic Brewz, Fossil Findz, Reef Buildz, Robo Buildz, Pixel Questz, Star Cadetz, and Case Filez — potions, dinosaur digs, coral reefs, robot builds, pixel-art quests, starship ranks, and detective cases.
- Middle school (5–12): Game Changerz (modern video-game hero art with a character-select summon mechanic), House Crestz (crests that climb bronze → silver → gold), Trailheadz, Beatz (every student drops their own single), and Kickz (design your own sneaker, piece by piece).
- High school (9–12): Northstarz — a dark sky where every point lights one more star until the student’s constellation is complete. Understated, earned, and deliberately not a sticker.
Bloomz suggests themes automatically from your class roster’s grades, so the right band surfaces first — and the four original themes (Blossoming Flowerz, Mystery Monsterz, Student Avatarz, Middle School) stay exactly where they are, free on every plan.
Progressions, not just points
Every new theme works the same way underneath. Each student is assigned their own character — every theme ships 18 standard characters, so a class of 25 sees more than a dozen different ones rather than everyone getting the same avatar. As a student earns points toward their goal, their character advances through five stages: a starting state, three reveals, and the goal moment. The egg cracks. The fossil emerges from the rock. The hero materializes on the summon pad, and their ULTIMATE form is the payoff.
Each theme also carries 6 rare characters that appear as lucky pulls on milestone streaks — the boss-tier legends, the locomotive, the case file nobody’s ever solved — which keeps long-running classes interested after the first goal is met.
This is the same recognition engine that feeds the rest of the platform: points roll up to school-wide House Points, recognition reaches home in the family’s language, and behavior signals join attendance and SEL in Thrive’s whole-child early warning. The themes are the fun on top of infrastructure that’s doing serious work.
Every theme ships with a classroom poster
Introducing a theme shouldn’t take prep. Each theme includes a printable A4 classroom poster that tells its story in kid-voice — how the brew works, what lights the stars — so the launch is one bulletin board. Posters are also visible from the theme picker itself, so teachers can see any theme’s story and artwork before choosing it.
Availability and rollout
Theme packaging follows plans: Free and Teacher Basic keep the original four; Teacher Premium adds the nine PreK–8 themes; School Premium adds the five middle/high themes on top. And a note on timing, because we’d rather under-promise: the themes release in waves across the 2026-27 school year. Until a theme’s wave is live it shows in the picker as Coming Soon — visible but not selectable — so what teachers see in the app is always something students can actually use.
If your school runs points-based recognition today — on Bloomz, on a classroom app your students have outgrown, or on paper — the new catalog is worth five minutes: bloomz.com/behavior-themes. Your seniors have never had a behavior theme designed for them. Now they do.
