At Bloomz, we take your privacy very seriously and we have taken every measure so you rest assured your information and your experience at Bloomz stays safe and private.
Bloomz is a proud signatory of the Student Privacy Pledge, and holds iKeepSafe COPPA, FERPA and CSPC certifications.
Like many other internet-based services, Bloomz needs to collect some information from our users and their usage so we can provide a high-quality experience. The information we collect can be: (1) personal information you submit while creating an account or using our service; (2) automatically collected information; and (3) information from other sources.
Personal information is any information about you that is personally identifiable, such as your name, address, email address or phone number. Other information stored when parents or teachers use our apps includes school and class information, student name(s) or age(s), and information sent over the service such as messages, announcements, alerts, images, events, portfolio items and behavior points.
When you use our services we, or our authorized third-party service providers, may also collect device information, device type and model, operating system, browser type, unique device identifier, IP address, mobile carrier, location, and the pages you view, along with dates and times of access.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies, pixel tags and similar technologies to collect visitor information and to tailor the apps for you, for authentication, security and site integrity, localization and performance analytics. You can delete or disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not work to their full potential.
We use your information to operate, maintain and improve our services, to contact you, and for internal business purposes. We use it to understand usage trends, improve our product, and create new features. Some usage reports are displayed to teachers and administrators as analytics for decision-making.
We will never use students' personally identifiable information, or collect, use, or share such information for any purpose beyond authorized educational or school purposes, or as explicitly authorized by the student or parent. We will never target advertisements to students or sell students' personally identifiable information to third parties for any purpose.
We do not sell or disclose personally identifiable information to nonaffiliated parties except in connection with our services and the operation of our business as explained in this policy and our Terms of Service.
We do not sell or disclose your personally identifiable information to nonaffiliated parties except in connection with our services and the operation of our business. We may disclose information: in publicly accessible areas you choose to post to; to contractors or agents performing services for us under terms comparable to this policy; to school administrators for compliance purposes when in connection with a school account; in response to subpoenas, court orders or legal process; to assert or defend our legal rights; to protect the safety of others; or in connection with a corporate merger, acquisition or asset purchase.
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) protects the online privacy of children under 13 and requires Bloomz to obtain parental consent or notice prior to the collection, use and disclosure of a child's personal information. We require that teachers or schools get parental consent before using our service with children under 13. Parents can withdraw consent at any time.
Consent can be obtained through a school-wide technology consent process, a written consent form, or, for teachers in the United States, by acting as the parent's agent as permitted by the FTC. Bloomz obtains parental consent directly when a parent sets up their child's account, or when a student creates their own account after a teacher invitation.
We retain your information only as long as necessary for educational purposes or legal obligations, or to provide the service. Individual teacher accounts can be deleted through the app or by request to [email protected]. School or district accounts can request deletion through their account manager; prior to deletion they can request an archive of communications, provided within 90 days, after which roster and communication data is marked for deletion.
Deletion requests are processed within no longer than 90 days. Individual teacher accounts inactive for 12 months, and school or district accounts inactive for 24 months, are automatically marked for deletion. Bloomz may retain anonymized, aggregated statistical data of deleted accounts.
This section applies only to our marketing website (bloomz.com), not to our applications. When you visit our website we may collect additional information automatically or that you enter. We use technologies and third-party service providers to serve ads on our behalf across the internet; these may collect anonymous information about your visits. No personally identifiable information is automatically transferred to these third-party service providers.
Because of the cost associated with free accounts, we work with family-friendly third-party brands to sponsor classrooms and help cover those costs. Sponsorships are only shown to educators and parents, never to students. No personally identifiable information is shared with advertisers, and teachers can turn off sponsorships with a small impact to feature or storage availability.
We use physical, managerial and technical safeguards designed to improve the integrity and security of your information. As with any online service, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you transmit or store information at your own risk. If we learn of a security breach, we will attempt to notify you electronically and post a notice in our app.
Our Security Pledge describes our general data security and integrity practices. We maintain a comprehensive data security program with recurring internal and external audits.
We may modify this Privacy Policy by posting updates on this page. If modifications materially alter your rights or obligations, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you at least 30 days in advance via email or through our apps. Continued use after the revised policy becomes effective indicates your agreement.
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, contact us at [email protected] or through the feedback link in our apps. You may also email the iKeepSafe Safe Harbor program at [email protected].
