Bloomz for Cities›Neighborhood Challenges
Neighborhood Challenges

Run a challenge between neighborhoods and let the standings do the recruiting.

A friendly rivalry that turns participation into points you can see.

Neighborhood Challenges turn Civic Rewards into a competition. You set a start and end date, a scoring rule and a prize, and residents watch their neighborhood climb the standings as points are awarded. When it ends, you announce the winner as a normal city post.

01

Set it up in a few minutes

An administrator creates a challenge with a title, a description, start and end dates, a scoring rule (points per 100 residents, or total points), a prize written in plain text and an optional photo. Filters can limit which awards count by source or by preset label. A challenge can be edited until it starts, and cancelled until it ends.

✓
Scoring rule: points per 100 residents by default, or total points
✓
A prize in plain text: the city decides and delivers it
✓
Optional filters: count only certain award types
✓
Active, upcoming and ended: with a clear status
02

Standings residents can follow

Residents see the standings with rank, neighborhood color, points and points per 100 residents, with their own neighborhood highlighted. A trend chart and a full-screen display mode suit a lobby screen. Ties share a rank. Points from staff awards and NeighborLift tasks count, and redeeming an offer never lowers a standing.

✓
Ranked standings: rank, color, points and points per 100 residents
✓
A trend chart: by day or week, and an all-time or this-month board
✓
A full-screen display mode: for a lobby or council chamber screen
✓
Fair by design: redeeming an offer never subtracts from a standing
Per 100
residents, by default
Standings rank neighborhoods by points per 100 residents, so a small neighborhood can compete.
03

Announce the winner

When the challenge ends, an administrator announces the winner once as a regular city post, which reaches residents on the same channels as any other notice.

✓
One announcement: a normal city post
✓
Points follow the resident: a resident is counted in their current neighborhood
✓
Needs placed residents: a city with no neighborhoods has an empty board
✓
Uses the Civic Rewards switch: no separate subscription
Up to 50
neighborhoods in one challenge
Points follow a resident's current neighborhood. A resident who is not in a neighborhood counts for none.
Questions we hear

Common questions

Are points scored automatically from attendance?

No. Standings use awards your staff make, NeighborLift completions and event awards.

Who delivers the prize?

The city. The prize is text on the challenge; Bloomz does not fulfil it.

Can we run it without neighborhood boundaries?

No. Standings need residents placed in neighborhoods. See Neighborhood Maps.
